It’s because I started planning what gifts to make.
Homemade gifts have many good points: 1. They show you spent time (and probably some money) on the person — excellent for sentimental types;
2. It is impossible to assign them a retail value — handy for gifting those people who make a lot more or less money than you (they give you a cashmere sweater, you give them a freshbaked gingerbread house — you’re even) and
3. If they’re like anything I make, they usually fall apart in a reasonable length of time so, even if the recipient doesn’t like the gift, they’re not stuck with it for long.
