These included: working with the Potomac Environmental Council to promote voluntary conservation easements; the identification and use of other protection tools; the protection of ridgetops and other sensitive lands; and support for tourism, agriculture and local family businesses.
RCCA’s operating philosophy, Catron said, is to be impartial and non-partisan; to be a local resource and advocate; and to avoid duplication of conservation and preservation efforts by working in alliance with county government and other conservation groups.
Catron invited attendees to participate in the RCCA’s preservation efforts by becoming members ($25 annual dues) and joining one of the group’s committees.
