• Ebay.com claims almost 3.4 million items for sale by online auction, ranging from antiques to sports memorabilia. It’s difficult to think of something that isn’t available — a quick search for Maj. Matt Mason, a Mattel astronaut action figure from the 1960s, turned up more than 50 items currently up for bid, including a moon base in its original box with a top bid (so far) of $103.49.
• The Gap’s site (www.gap.com) lets you order merchandise online, but also offers a quick way to search for the nearest Gap stores. If you have a problem with merchandise shipped to you, you can ship it back to them or return it to the store yourself.
