Easements exceed
13,000 acres
Last Wednesday, the Virginia Outdoors Foundation recorded a conservation easement gift from Sharon Luke that protects 112 acres “on the high ridgeline of Bessie Belle Mountain."
One purpose of the easement is protection of “scenic ridgetops." Ms. Luke's gift brings the countywide easement total to \ 13,057 acres.
“Back to school”
day on Aug. 22
It’s that time of the year and “back to school” day is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 22 from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. School will begin on Monday, Aug. 26. Classes will begin this year at 8:10 a.m. and will end at 3:20 p.m.
Representative
to visit County
Chaz Evans-Haywood, a regional representative for U.S. Senator George Allen, will be in Washington at the Rappahannock County Library from 12 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
Senator Allen’s representative will be available to discuss issues facing the area with constituents and to help anyone having problems with a federal agency.
