Your intrepid video reviewers are back, though you may not have missed us. We ve finally been dragged into the computer age and this will be our first column filed via e-mail!
As you’ve gathered by now, if you’ve ever read this column, we most always focus on esoteric, “arty”, or small films (cinema verite for the snooty).
Video reviews of bigname, first-run movies seldom appear here, and that trend continues. This time, we’ve chosen a few favorite dance films.
• Strictly Ballroom: 1991, PG, 94 minutes. Australia’s Baz Luhrman (Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge) directs this fond but satiric look at the colorful and quixotic life of championship ballroom dancing.
