decides to quit dancing.

The lovely Mai, who is troubled herself, makes a confession which helps bring about the tidy cinematic culmination.

The film is populated with vivid, quirky characters, and they are all tremendously enjoyable.

Oh, and yes, there are frothy, outrageous costumes, make-up, engineered hair and enlarged egos!

Not to mention some good dancing, as well.

Anyway, it’s a rambunctious romp, and in the end, everyone is where he or she should be.

Ahh, sweet symmetry.

We loved it.

Our friendly, in-village video store has about 20 dance films, including alltime classics like The Red Shoes, All that Jazz, The Turning Point (with Mikhael Bariznikov’s film debut), Isadora, the disco favorite Saturday Night Fever, and Flashdance, with the famous wet t-shirt dancing of the luscious Jennifer Beals.

These and other fine videos and DVDs are available at Cinema Paradiso Video Rental, Packing Shed Corner, Porter & Gay Streets, Washington, 6753410. Open Tuesday Sunday, hours vary seasonally.
