Special to the Rappahannock News
A Polanty Therapy clinic is scheduled Sept. 7 and 8 at the Rappahannock Healing Arts Center in Sperryville. It is organized by Charmaine Lee, Registered Polarity Practitioner and Director of SynergyDance.
Charmaine Lee teaches the Associate Polarity Therapy training (APP) over a 12 month period as well as the Registered Polarity Practitioner training (RPP), which is the next level.
This is the second clinic for this summer and it completes the APP training for a group of five students: Rose Sincevich, who has a healing practice in Frederick, Md., Dave Paxson, Clinical Social Worker on the staff of the halfway house in Rockville, Md. and Kristin Stobo of Warrenton, where she teaches yoga and recently opened a massage practice downtown. The two local students are Beth Levick, whose | musical talents and work with sound are well known in the county, and myself.
I can say that with Polarity Therapy and SynergyDance, I have really found the answer to a long search for healing. Meeting Charmaine Lee a few years ago, shortly after Charmaine and her husband Roger Piantadosi moved to the county from Washington, D.C., was one of these moments that Julie Portman would qualify as “stepping stones”.
Through an extraordinary itinerary, Ms. Lee has come up with a healing system that is an invaluable contribution to healing. It is an intelligent self-healing movement system based on the principles of Polarity Therapy, for which Ms. Lee is considered to be the finest expert by some of the most knowledgeable members of the American Polarity Therapy Association (APTA).
As most significant contributions seem to come about, it was not an easy creative process. Charmaine Lee is a professional dancer, studied classical ballet and many other dance forms. Bom in South Africa, she got caught in the terrible web of abuse of power and through horrendous circumstances had a toxic chemical injected in her spine which left her very ill as a political refugee in London.
Just like in a fairy tale, she found an old book on Polarity Therapy written by its founder, Doctor Randolph Stone. Lying flat on her bed, she started figuring out ways to apply to herself these healing contacts. As a dancer, she knew movements and her body well and that’s how SynergyDance was created.
A SynergyDance class is divided in two parts. The goal of the first part is to resource the system and bring about healing through a series of movements done on the floor. Then the second part is danced across the floor and represents the outer expression of the energy. The foundation of this work is to recognize the innate intelligence of one’s system and to create the space/ether that allows it to do what it knows best. You can see how empowering this is for each individual. We have the opportunity to reconnect to Source and seek the balance of the ele
