Special to the Rappahannock News

The final in a series of Ben Jones meet and greets held throughout Rappahannock County took place on Tuesday evening, Aug. 13 in Washington at the home of Barbara Stockton. Ben “Cooter” Jones is a Rappahannock resident, former two-term Congressman from Georgia and candidate for the US House of Representatives for the seventh congressional district which includes Rappahannock.

Most of the crowd of almost 50 were having their first opportunity to visit with Mr. Jones as a congressional candidate and discuss issues that mattered to them. He was accompanied by his wife Alma and two young people from his campaign office in Richmond, Nadine Ostranski and Joe Frisk.

For about an hour everyone mingled, enjoyed the refreshments, got to know people in the county they hadn’t met before and learned more about Ben Jones as everyone seemed to want to share what they had talked about with Ben.

When the time came for Ben Jones to speak briefly to the guests in a more formal way, everyone gathered in the living room.
