new Athletic Director. He comes to Rappahannock with 17 years in the schools, ten of those years serving as athletic director. He holds a B.S. from Madison College and a M.Ed. from James Madison University. He hopes that the “student/athletes at Rappahannock County High School will have their best athletic year ever!
Lorien Onderdonk, the new Business teacher with a BA. from James Madison University, is looking forward to her first year of teaching. Her hope is to “accomplish our objectives and get every student up to where he or she needs to be.”
Bobette Swindler, School Nurse/Administrative aide went to Northern Virginia Community College, is Red Cross certified in adult, child and infant CPR and First Aid. She was a substitute last year in the high school and loved it. Her wish: “I really want to bring my dogs to work.” Her second wish: “Helen Williams stays on as Superintendent, forever.”
Dave Gillis, Advanced Math (Calculus, PreCalculus and Geometry), comes to teaching from the Industrial Engineering world and he’s looking forward to teaching. He has a B.S.I.E from Northeastern University and advanced degrees in Computer Science from University of Maryland and the Executive Program from Columbia University. His wish is that “those who have the desire will grasp as much as they can ... that they 11 be able to weave reality and math together. Calculus is where that really starts to happen.”
David Naser, Chemistry/ Physics, comes to Rappahannock with eight and a half years at the Community College level and two years teaching high school Chemistry and Physics in Strasburg under a similar 4x4 block system. He’ll also be teaching Environmental Science and Nutritional Science. Mr. Naser received his B.A. from Gettysburg College and an MBA from Duke University. He’s just “hoping for a good year.”
Steve Burton will be teaching Math (Algebra/ Geometry) in the spring and 8th grade Science this fall. With a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and a Ph.D from the University of Michigan, Mr. Burton has taught at Indiana University, the University of Chicago and has done research at the National Institute of Health on bioethics.
