Their chemistry together in Dirty Dancing is splendid, and watching them dance together a joy.
She plays Baby, the wellto-do daughter of a family vacationing for a month at Kellerman’s, a sprawling, land mostly Jewish) family resort in the NY mountains, and he plays Johnny, the hunky lead dance instructor (together with a troupe of his cohorts) hired for summer entertainment.
Set in 1963, the film has some of the classic dance music of the century: Micky & Sylvia's Love is Strange, Do You Love Me0, Big Girls Don't Cry, and other great hits by the Ronettes, Franki Valli. Otis Redding, the Drifters, and the Shirelles.
Herb thinks only women want to watch this film to see Patrick Swavze’s buff body in his tight, black outfits, and, frankly, he does look pretty hot, but the music and dancing is the main reason to see this terrific film.
