The new assessment of the value of each property in the county will be mailed out to the property owner in the fall. That new value should be closer to the real market value of their property and it most likely will reflect a higher value than in the 1998 assessment. If owners have concerns or questions, there will be ample time with the people who did the appraising and the Board of Assessors.

By sometime in December, the work of the appraisal company and the Board of Assessors will be completed and they will sign off on the 2002 property assessment book.

The final job of the Blue Ridge Appraisal Company is to run the reassessment books and make new property cards for the Commissioner of Revenue’s Office.
