The man suspected of viciously murdering Sheryl Warner made two court appearances in Culpeper Cpunty last week: first, to be appointed an attorney and second, to plead not guilty to first-degree murder.
Ricky Javon Gray, 29, made his first known trip to Culpeper since the 2005 murder on Wednesday, Jan. 3 for arraignment at Culpeper Circuit Courthouse.
Escorted by several armed deputies and donning a pale blue jumpsuit with handcuffs on his hands and ankles, the convicted murderer scanned the courtroom as he entered.
The room was filled with detectives, reporters, and the family of Sheryl Warner, although none of Gray’s family members were present.
Gray was placed in front of Judge John R. Cullen and read an indictment for.,, first degree murder. He blinked as the judge said the name of Sheryl Warner and the address of her previous home.
