lhe third graders continue their studies on the Bible and Hebrew, and during December studied the story of Moses. Hearthstone’s German exchange student also visited the third grade class to discuss the German celebration of Saint Nicholas, who is the patron saint of Russia and lived over 1,500 years ago. This tied in with the class book for the month, “The Good Master,” by Kate Seredy. 1 The second grade class explored the ocean and its creatures during their nature study block, and joined the National Wildlife Foundation after successful fundraising efforts in the month of November.
Kitty Keyser, Hearthstone’s certified Waldorf nursery/ kindergarten teacher, will be offering a parent/child day for younger children beginning in March. This will feature activities for parents with younger children not quite ready to be left at school, but wanting some additional activities and learning opportunities. More information will be forthcoming on this fun new program in the near future.
