School
Hearthstone’s high school students, have just completed their study block on Medieval English history with history teacher Jacob Konick. During this study block, students began with the reign of Heniy II and continued to his son John, who was forced to sign the Magna Carta under pressure from his barons. They also discussed the origins of Parliament in the 13th Century, the accession of Edward I. Studies concluded with the reign of Edward III and a discussion of the social, economic, political and religious dislocation of the great events of his reign.
Tarry Keane’s high school class recently went on a field trip to the Sackler Gallery in Washington, D.C. as part of their art history study block. They viewed a traveling exhibit, the largest of its kind, on ancient religious texts before the year 1000, including the Dead Sea scrolls, the first Bibles published, wooden tablets and various other ancient documents used to compile and create the Bible.
