In areas subject to salt damage, injury can be minimized by selecting tolerant species when planting.
Some species may include:
Norway Maple • Hawthorn
White oak • Red oak Juniper • Blue spruce • Mugo pine
Calcium chloride, and lawn fertilizer may also be use as effective deicing agent to limit the damage to ornamental planting.
