“Cancer patients who receive radiation therapy are often scheduled for daily treats ment for several consecutive weeks,” said Michael Schwartz, President and CEO of Prince William Health System. "Hie opening of the Cancer Center will help to end lengthy commutes for our patients whq need radiation therapy treaty ments.”
Schwartz estimated 'that the center would have about 5,000 treatment visits in the first year and nearly 10,000 by the fifth year. “Both counties have growing populations that require us to keep pace and add services to meet their needs,” he said. “Besides the population boom, the aging of residents means that the number of individuals who will need cancer treatments will also increase.”
