Stephanie Nakasian and the Hod O’Brien Quartet are appearing at 8 p.m., on January 20, at the Rice Theater at the Highland Center for the Ails, Highland School, Warrenton, Virginia. Miss Nakasian is considered to be one of the world’s leading jazz singers, and is listed as such in Hie Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz .

She attracted international attention in the 80’s when she was touring with the great Jon Hendricks and Company. Stephanie now performs with her partner and internationally acclaimed jazz pianist Hod O’Brien. They have been actively recording and her latest CD “Lullaby in Rhythm” is a tribute to singer June Christy and features tenor saxophonist Harry Allen. Nakasian has been compared to Ella Fitzgerald, Margaret Whiting and Sarah Vaughn. She has appeared on television and radio" throughout the U.S., Europe, Japan and the Caribbean. She was featured on NPR's Jazz Set with Branford Marsalis, and has appeared in numerous jazz festivals all over the world. Recently Stephanie Nakasian performed at the Kennedy Center in a special jazz tribute. She has also appeared with Bobby McFerrin, Milt Hinton, Clark Terry and many others.

In addition to her busy concert schedule, Stephanie is a member of the faculty at the University of Virginia and The College of Wiliam and Mary, where she teaches courses in jazz and gives private lessons.

Hod O’Brien will be joined instrumentally by John Jensen on trombone, Tammy Cecil on bass, and Chuck Redd on drums and vibraphone.
