Marcus Peter Malik, a Washington, Va., man, has been indicted for the marijuana plants discovered during the search for Ira Wayne Cloniger, last July. During the search for the fugitive murder suspect, a state helicopter discovered the plants growing on Malik’s property.
Malik has been charged with manufacturing marijuana not for his own use. According to State Police Trooper Christopher Roop, 89 marijuana plants seized weighed some five pounds and had an estimated value of $8,700.
Malik, 71, is a longtime resident of the county and is a 15-year veteran of the National Park Service. He was released on $5,000 bond.
