Area Administrator J. David Cubbage mentioned that in order to bring the bridge and the road back up to current specifications, it would probably require a new bridge and new road construction requiring a two lane road. Cubbage did not specify whether VDOT was willing to make that expenditure, however, citizens made it clear that they did not want a larger road.
“My family’s position is that we would like the bridge not to be destroyed and the road not to be changed,” Anderson stated.
