Feb. 2: Oompah in the

The James Madison University Brass Band will perform Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the BB &T Center for the Performing Arts in Luray. Joe Bowman of Coldwell Banker-Panorama Realty is sponsoring this event. Tickets are available at Luray-Page County Chamber of Commerce, McKim and Huffman Pharmacy, Luray Copy Service, Luray Apothecary and Stanley Pharmacy. Adults are $12, 65 and over are $11 and children 12 and under are $6. Local band students wearing a band tee shirt pay $5. For information on this event call 540-743-3311.
Feb. 5: Bland Concert

The Rappahannock Lions Club 23d Annual Bland music contest will be held at the Theatre in Washington, Virginia on February 18, 2007. Student vocalists and instrumentalists in Rappahannock County schools, grades K-12, are encouraged to register for the contest, which awards cash prizes to the winners. Registration forms may be obtained from school music directors or by calling Bob Lander, 540-987-8504 (email kplander® aol.com). Registration forms must be returned to the Lions Club by February 5th.
Essay Contest
The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Culpeper Chapter #73, cordially invite all Rappahannock County students; grades 1-12, to participate in an annual essay contest. We encourage any public, private or home schooled student to apply his or her knowledge of history. Cash prizes will be awarded and winners will be honored at a special ceremony. Essay instructions and rules may be obtained at the Rappahannock County Library, the Rappahannock County Elementary School, or Rappahannock County High School. All entries are due by March 1, 2007.
