The building, which is about 20,000 square feet, was constructed as a freestanding outpatient facility in the Arts and Crafts style. It was designed to allow the staff to efficiently manage the oncology program in spaces that utilize natural light and provide views to the outdoors to help in the healing process. The site will allow for additional equipment to be added as technology evolves.
The day-to-day operations of the Cancer Center will be overseen by Dr. Aggarwal, Medical Director, and Peter Dritschilo, Administrative Director.
Dr. Sanjeev Aggarwal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Lombardi Cancer Center. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Tobacco Settlement Foundation. He also served as an advisor in the Health Care Advisory Board’s Physician Leadership Initiative. After earning his medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth Uni-* versity, Dr. Aggarwal completed his residency at the Uni-, versity of Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Aggarwal is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology.
Peter Dritschilo received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Psychology from Georgetown University. He received a degree in Radiation Therapy Technology from George Washington University and worked as a Radiation Therapist at George Washington University Hospital. Dritschilo earned his Master’s of Business Administration from George Washington University. He was named Chief Therapist at Georgetown University Hospital, and eventually became the Radiation Oncology Administrator for several free-standing radiation oncology facilities in the DC metropolitan area. In 2005, he joined Georgetown University Hospital’s Department of Medicine as an Administrator until accepting the position of Administrative Director for The Cancer Center at Lake Manassas.
