Let’s try a phrase association exercise.
The phrase is summer assignments.
“Summer work keeps you on track during a break,” sophomore Emma Hathaway said.
What about red pen?
“The first time I got a paper back, I thought, ‘Oh my God, that woman needsto go to red pen rehab,’“ sophomore Kristen Williams laughed. “My paper was bleeding.”
Or research paper?
“There’s never a moment when I ever wanted to quit the class, but there are times... ,” sophomore A.J. Collins said, “when I screamed that I hated Delcour because I Was, as she says, appropriately stressed when doing the research paper.”
And how “bout Delcour, as in Melissa Delcour, the English teacher at Rappahannock County High School who teaches the International General Certificate of Secondary Education or IGCSE program to freshmen and sophomores?
“She is so knowledgeable about everything. She loves art. She speaks Italian. She is interested in what she is teaching,” sophomore Emily Carter said. “Ms. Delcour knows what we are capable of. She’s going to get us ready for college, and the level of thinking that we do in her class is college-level thinking.”
It should be.
