Senior Center Assistant

Parks, Recreation and Community Services (2 Positions; 07-157 part-time 20 hours per week, 07-263 full-time)

Positions available with the Carver Center in Purcellville. Assists in daily operations of a multi-use center; senior center during daytime hours and community center during evenings & weekends. Plans, coordinates, implements and evaluates programs, classes and special events for seniors and other age groups. Oversees drop-in users and facility rentals. Provides coverage for other staff and serves as passenger vehicle operator as needed. Work schedule will include variable day, evening and weekend hours. Successful candidate must possess strong organizational, customer service, and communication skills. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and four years directly related experience in recreation, physical education or related field. Two years experience in community based programming and some supervision experience preferred. Prefer previous activity/programming experience with senior population. This position requires a CDL. Prefer current CDL at time of hire, however will provide assistance to successful candidate to obtain appropriate CDL license within 4 months of hire. The incumbent of this position must comply with the Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Program as outlined by Loudoun County s Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees. Valid driver's license required. Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and DMV record check are required. Certification in First Aid and CPR required within 90 days of hire.
