Mr. Miller said that he told the residents that some of the arguments for their acceptance of the landfill were just not valid. Because the roads are littered, which he said he did not find to be the case, is not a reason to put in a landfill. The same argument applies to the “NIMBY” syndrome, he added.

There are valid concerns raised about ecological and aesthetic effects on the surrounding area, he said. “These are not frivolous concerns.”
