Matthew O’Herron and Bobby Oh* linger won magna cum laude awards for their high performance on the exam. Other students winning cum laude awards included Hank Sohn, Jesus Blanco, Lewis Martin (Latin II); Detra Funk, Dennis Shanta, Jennifer Shanks, Eric Vensel, Maria Roemer, and Timmy Andreae (Latin I).
In the National Greek Examination, competing against high school and college students from around the nation, Wakefield’s Julie Whit, worth, Tobias Dengel, and Merren Booth won 3rd place green ribbon awards for their high scores on the Homeric Greek section of the test.
Fourth-year German students Robert Wyatt and Heidi Maeyer have won top awards in the National t German Examination with scores over 96 percent.
In commending Wakefield winners, Headmaster William Lynn emphasized the importance of foreign language study and mentioned that he is especially proud of sophomore ( Tobias Dengel, who won awards in French, Latin and Greek. Dengel has already completed German studies and is presently enrolled in Spanish III as well as in French IV, Latin IV, and Greek I.
