A native of Pennsylvania, Mr Chase now lives in the Stevensburg District of Culpeper County, representing the largly rural district on the county’s governing body.
Following his graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1960, Mr. Chase served a 16-year stint in the Army, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. While there, he received a combat injury which ended his active military service.
He received a Master’s Degree in Planning from the University of Virginia in 1975.
Mr. Chase served on Culpeper County’s Planning Commission from 1977 to 1983, including two years as its chairman, from 1981 to 1983.
He was elected to the Board of Supervisors representing Stevensburg Distaict (in the northeastern

Since 1977 he has served as the president of Potts Run Coal Company and the Commonwealth Coal and Coke Company, both located in Pennsylvania.
