Mrs. Harris replied that she is concerned that the older septic fields around the town have begun to malfunction, or will soon, and that the town may have a real problem.
“The Planning Commission raised that issue,” Mr. Wickens said. “The fact is there are a lot of reasons why (a septic system) will not happen. The tremendous cost would drive people out of their homes... if you do that, it would attract subdivisions, which would aggrevate - the problem and place a burden on the town and its services which we cannot provide. We need enforcement.”
Council agreed that it supports a review of the situation, and informing the county and the health authorities that it is aware of the situation.
“It’s devaluing the property, devaluing the whole town,” Mrs. Harris added.
