Martin, a former masonry contractor, sold that business to become Faith Mountain’s catalog director when the mail order part of the business began in 1982. Faith Mountain’s first 16 page catalog; 500 copies run off on a friend’s Xerox machine, has become a 32-page, full Color magazine quality offering with one million circulation world-wide.
This year, the quarterly catalog will offer, for the first time anywhere, Cheri said, everlasting flower arrangements and wreaths custom-ordered, by mail or phone, to fit any space or color scheme. Color chips or swatches sent to the store will be matched for each customer’s specific desires.
“We’re trying to personalize the direct-mail experience,” Martin explained. “That has always been one of its big drawbacks. People love the convenience, but they don’t like the impersonal nature of it.” He said the response to the offering of personalized service has been good.
