The members of the Rappahannock County Garden Club have spent the past several weeks cleaning up, remulching and expanding the beds and boxes around the Courthouse and several other buildings in Washington in anticipation of the club’s Flower Show and Walking Tour, set for Saturday, May 23.
Among the new additions to Rappahannock’s “garden spot” are new window boxes for each of the buildings in the Courthouse complex, an oval flower bed and sundial in the lawn, and more junipers to surround the monument in front of the Commissioner of Revenue and Treasurer’s offices.
All participants in the Flower Show are requested to bring their entries to the Trinity Church Parish Hall on Friday, between 3 and 6 p.m., or Saturday morning from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Judging will begin at 10 a.m.
Although the hall will not be open to the public dining the judging, the public will be invited to view the entries beginning at 2 p.m. The walking tours will also begin at 2 and continue until 8 p.m.
