The government must address these concerns, he said. To place a landfill in an area where there are underground springs, underground rivers between aquifers, a place where people rely on wells for drinking water, is asking for trouble.“They have to deal with it on that level — the people have concerns for a reason.”
Mr. Miller said that he prepared a handout with a list of scientific criteria which he believed should be used in evaluating any proposed site. “I don’t believe this type of analysis has been done on this site or on any other . . . the government,” he continued, “has not dealt with the basic question of whether this is a good site for a landfill.”
