“Wagon One is now in service.”
With those words, the Washington Volunteer Fire Department recently added a new piece of equipment to its inventory: a 1969 American La France fire truck. It replaces the department’s aging 1946 Mack, which was taken out of service.
The truck was purchased from a department in Plain view, New York, according to Roger Roach, chief of Company 1.
Chief Roach said that the new truck, although 18 years old, “is very up to date and comparable to new equipment being purchased now.”
