Turf grass conference Nov. 4

The Shenandoah Valley Turfgrass Conference will be held Nov. 4 at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center in Front Royal. Call the Extension Office at 675-3619 for complete details and to pre-register by Oct. 30. The registration fee of $6 covers lunch and facility use.

Halloween Sock Hop

The RCES PTA is sponsoring a Halloween Sock Hop on Friday, Oct. 30 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the RCES gym. Children may come dressed in costumes. There will be a contest for the best costume and the announcement of the prize winner for the participants in the bus communications system fund drive will be made. Admission is $1, with a maximum of $5 per family.

Fund drive continues

The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department is continuing its doorto-door fund drive through the month of October. All donations received are appreciated and your continued support is needed.

6Lady and the Tramp’

Lady and the Tramp will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24 and 25. There will be a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. and on Sunday the movie will be shown at 7:30 p.m. The movie is about Lady, a pedigreed cocker spaniel, who falls in love with fun-loving mongrel Tramp in Walt Disney’s timeless romance. The movie is rated G. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.

PTA meeting

The RCES PTA will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. Results of the fund-raising campaign for the bus communications system will be announced.

Choir anniversary

The Senior Choir of the Shiloh Baptist Church, Woodville, is celebrating its anniversary Sunday, Nov. 1 at 3 o’clock. There will be choirs from various churches: rendering two selections. This program is sponsored by Sister Alfreds Dean. Rev. George Dean is pastor of Shiloh Baptist.

Old-fashioned hymn sing

An old-fashioned hymn sing sponsored by the Wayland Blue Ridge Association Choir will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m. at Culpeper High School. Prizes will be awarded. Donation will be $5 per person and all proceeds will benefit the Wayland Blue Ridge Center. Dance at Amissville

The band South Bound will play for a dance sponsored by the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Proper dress is required and persons attended must be 21 years of age. Quaker meeting

There is an hour of silent worship on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Middle Street Gallery.
