Suzanne M. Polkowske,
daughter of Gabriella M. Corti of Sperryville, has been promoted in the U.S. Air Force to rank of captain. Polkowske is an aircraft maintenance officer at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., with the 5th Fighter Interceptor Squadron.
Alice Pullen of Flint Hill won an honorable mention award for her entry in the environmental poster contest sponsored by the Rappahannock Garden Club.
