In 1986, Wakefield had the highest percentage of National Merit Semifinalists in its senior class of any school, public or private, in Virginia.
Dr. White told Dr. Lynn that he wanted to find out what Wakefield is doing which makes its students perform consistently above average, and to try to apply it where possible to the schools in Clarke County.
Dr. White spent several hours with Dr. Lynn reviewing texts, meeting teachers and discussing curriculum and teaching methods.
Dr. Lynn said that he found the exchange very fruitful and is impressed by Dr. White’s determined effort to improve his school’s stand- ; ing in an area vital to student aca- * demic success.
