Ms. Moore’s first distance competitions were competitive trail rides, which led to her involvement with endurance racing. This year she came in third in the U. S. 60 Mile Ride and placed in the Top Ten in the Old Dominion experience of racing in the Rappahannock Hunt and Old Dominion Hunt pair races.
Ms. Martinsen-Parli grew up on a farm in Wisconsin where she helped her father train and race Standardbreds, and where she was also always fortunate to have had a horse to ride. Shortly after she married her husband Richard Parli she was given an aged and very spunky part-Arab gelding who taught her the joys of vigorous trail riding.
Subsequently the Parlis began breeding registered Arabians, concentrating on proven racing lines, which they continue to do on their farm in western Fauquier County.
