In other action, the board:

• adopted a maternity leave policy recommended by the superintendent which provides for the duration of leave to be agreed upon by the teacher, her doctor and the superintendent.

• approved the 1987-88 field trip calendar.

• accepted a bid of $7,345 for biology lab equipment. The single bid received is under the $8,000 to $10,000 anticipated for the item.

• accepted the audit of the activity funds at both schools.

• approved a resolution clearing the way for the Virginia Department of Transportation to complete work on the high school parking lot should efforts to find a local contractor prove unsuccessful.

• filled coaching vacancies, approved a list of substitute teachers and accepted the resignation of a high school cafeteria worker following an executive session.
