The Living Will must be signed by the individual to whom it applies and by two unrelated witnesses. However, the Living Will can be revoked by the signer at any time. It is advisable to give a signed copy of this document to your primary physician.
Signing a Living Will is entirely voluntary. Its purpose is to allow a person to express his or her wishes regarding this subject before the need arises, sparing family members a very difficult decision. Active decisions regarding treatment underlie the Hospice concept as the quality of life is of utmost importance for terminally ill individuals.
The Living Will is free. Please call the Hospice at 825-4840 for a copy. Copies will also be available at the Hospice of the Rapidan’s annual meeting Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Precious Blood Catholic Church Parish Hall in Culpeper.
