New parents
encouraged
to buckle up
Warren Memorial Hospital and the Virginia Auto Safety Alliance are teaming up to encourage parents to buckle up their infants. VASA has provided Warren Memorial Hospital with t-shirts for newborns with the picture of a child in a bunny suit buckled in a safety seat and the words, “somebunny Loves You,” on the front.
The leading cause of death for children in this country is traffic crashes. In Virginia, it is the law that any child, four years of age or 40 pounds and under, must be buckled in a crash-tested safety seat when riding in a car.
As a gift to the newborns at Warren Memorial Hospital, each will receive a t-shirt sponsored by VASA. The shirts will go to the first 300 babies bom at the hospital to help promote safety seats.
