It is always a sad event when a candidate for political office is unopposed, regardless of party. If there is no opposition, how will the issues facing the country be addressed? I suspect that the lack of a Democratic candidate for Mr. Warner’s seat was owing to the high cost of running a successful campaign against a well known senatorial incumbent. We need campaign reform if we are to have a healthy political process.
