Descendants of one of the first families of Rappahannock County gathered at their ancestors’ burial grounds on Sunday, Nov. 3. With a clear blue sky and bright vibrant autumn colors and warm temperatures making it a perfect day.
Thomas B. Dwyer and Mary G. Martin, daughter of James Martin, were married May 1, 1818. Thomas bought twenty-seven acres from his father-in-law, James Martin in 1827. This property was located on the Piney Ridge being part of the property owned by the Varner/Overhall family when the Shenandoah National Park was created.
Among those descendants in that group were Joe and Ruby Jenkins Hawkins of Brightwood, Joseph Baldwin of Rileyville, Daniel Baldwin of Kimball, James Bailey Sr. of Rixeyville, Barbara Roberts of Alexandria, Wayne F. Baldwin of Leon. Cameraman and non-relative, David Roberts also joined in the affair.
