The alternative, they agreed, is unacceptable. “People have got to realize that unless something is done there won’t be anyone left to produce the cheap food we have had for generations,” Mr. Massie said.
“If enough people get out at farming,” Mr. Eastham agreed, “it will become the law of supply and demand — and food prices will go up.”
The Rappahannock Farmers’ Association hopes that, through its efforts, such a scenario will not become a reality.
The Rappahannock Fanners' Association invites the general public, as well as agricultural producers, to join in its efforts.
