Four representatives of the Health Department, two members of the Sperryville Water and Sewer Authority, the sewer plant operator and a plumber met at Ruth Hager's house outside Sperryville Tuesday to propose a solution to the problem of water containing raw sewage backing up into her basement.
All agreed that the problem occurs because the sewer line running from the house to the sewer authority’s tank is connected to drain lines underground in the yard which pick up groundwater in rainy weather.
