Democrats hold fundraiser

The Rappahannock Democratic Committee's annual fall fundraiser will be held at Montpelier, home of James W. Fletcher, in the F.T. Valley, at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 5.

Guests include Jerry Wood, candidate for the 31 st District seat in the House of Delegates; Sen. Tom Michie, seeking re-election in the 25th District seat in the Virginia Senate; Margaret Haynes, running for Sen. Kevin Miller's 26th District seat; and Kay Slaughter, candidate for Congress.

A contribution of $10 Will be collected from those attending.

The Vocational Advisory Council for the public school system will hold its first meeting of the new academic year at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 in the Rappahannock High library.

Agenda items include a demonstration by Ron Vickers' technology education students on telecommunications.

The chairperson, vice-chairperson and recorder will also be elected.
