The third weekend of October usually sees Rappahannock County and the rest of the Northern Piedmont at their colorful best. This of course depends on the vagaries of •I nature—and we’ve had a rather dry 1 summer. , However, on Saturday, Oct. 19 • and Sunday, Oct. 20 there will be a great deal of natural color on display at the Parish Hall of Trinity Episco; pal Church in historic Washington, Va. j The Parish Hall will be the headquarters of the 35th Annual Rappahannock House Tour and Dried ’ Flower Sale, an event which for all ; the past years has been one of the high points of the fall season in the I county. ’ Since spring the Women of | Bromfield Parish, who sponsor the ; event, and others, have grown flow• ers for later cutting and drying. They have scoured to countryside , for a variety of greens and other fo’ liage to be trimmed, dried and otherwise preserved and then combined with the flowers to make the hundreds of flower arrangements on sale at the Parish House that week' end.
The arrangements vary in size from those that can be held in the palm of the hand to elaborate cen. terpieces for a library or dining ta| ble.
