Spring Mountain School, which started several years ago as a playgroup at the home of a family in Old Hollow, hopes to expand next month into the former Washington High School building on Mount Salem Avenue in Washington, Va.
Bethany Craig, Spring Mountain coordinator, said this week that the school will be applying for a special use permit, and if approved at the Oct. 9 Towm Council meeting, she hopes to start classes at the site Oct. 10.
The school’s plans would involve 22 students in grades pre-K through 2. Ms. Craig said the nursery school would operate on Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m.-noon, the kindergarten Monday-Wendesday from 9 a.m. to noon and the combined first-second grade from 9 a.m.-noon Monday-Friday.
