Jonathan: Like the Stayman, this is an all-purpose apple, but it is an earlier variety than the Stayman, generally ripening in September. It is small to medium in size, with a rounded shape, perfect for lunch boxes because of its size. The flesh of the Jonathan is tart, crisp and juicy. The skin is red with patches of green.

Rome: Considered to be the best apple variety for baking and excellent for pies. The Rome is round and squatty, sits easily in pans for baking. It has red skin and slightly tart, firm and crisp flesh. Medium to large in size.
