After weatherizing the home*^ using whatever weatherizatien strategies necessary, elapsed timSSf meters were installed on the heatiflj systems. j™

The meters were read weekly throughout the study period. The r$ suits of the study revealed enerj® savings averaging 26 percent in sit$*

built homes and 20 percent in mobijj homes. Homes that received sidtti wall insulation averaged savings 41 32 percent and the highest individuJO savings was an incredible 47 pej“ cent. JJ

Telamon’s weatherization ser** ices are funded indirectly by the D«» partment of Energy through tfi£ Department of Housing and ConJJ munity Development. Unfortqg nately these funds are limited so it also relies on private donations.

There are literally hundreds Si homes that could benefit fro$ weatherization services in Plannidg District 9. Many needy families have no choice as to the living conditions they are subject to. V

Many of our elderly, or hand* icapped and children will spend a cold and drafty winter if they are not provided with these services. ManJ homes have broken or non-existent windows, others have inoperable heating systems and no insulation. Building materials and working heating systems are among the donations we gratefully accept so h you’d like to get rid of that old wood stove in the shed, give us a call. ,rj

Furnace repair service men and women are desperately needed to donate their services for furnace tune-ups and repair. Unfortunately; our funding may not be spent on labor, however, we may purchase furnace parts. Volunteerism plays a crucial role in making a program such as this work. *•*
