Wallace Critzer
Wallace Heterick Critzer, 65, a life-long resident of Washington died on September 17, 1991 in Warrenton.
He was born on March 4, 1926 in Leesburg, the son of the late John Wallace Critzer and Robbie Lee Heterick.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Harvey Critzer; two sons by a former marriage to Martha Ann Keyser, Bruce Lee Critzer and Steven Owen Critzer, both of Washington; three grandchildren, Robbie Lee Critzer, Martha Helen Critzer and John Wallace Critzer II of Washington.
Mr. Critzer had been self-employed most of his life in road building and excavating and the related trades of trucking and logging. He came by his profession naturally, as his father was a Superintendent with the State Highway Department, in charge of State Convict Work Forces and traveled the State building roads and bridges. He had first come to Rappahannock County in 1914 when State road improvements were being initiated and ended up marrying a local girl. After his retirement in 1936, they returned to her ancestral home “Tranquility” on Warren Ave., where her ancester Robert W. Heterick lived when he was the first Clerk of the Court and where Mrs. Critzer was born and also died.
