They were responsing to a question from Susan Babcock, who said there were moves to change the law in 1992. Ms. Babcock asked the candidates further if they would favor continuing land use taxation for land in agricultural and forestal districts and land on which scenic easements had been donated if general land use taxation were eliminated.
