Fall is here. . .with its crisp weather, falling leaves, and apples ready to be harvested.
Select apples according to their use. The best apples for cooking are: Jonathan, Grimes Golden, Golden Delicious, Stayman, Winesap, Rome, and York. For salads, select Red Delicious, Jonathan, Golden Delicious, and Stayman. For applesauce, select Grimes Golden, York, Stayman, Golden Delicious, and Winesap. For eating, select your favorite sweet or tart apples.
